Sheldon A. Weinstein, M.D. is a Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Branch. He is also the Vice-Chairman of the Pelvic Surgery Fellowship at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. He serves on the Medical Education Board of Presbyterian Hospital as well as the Medical Education Board of Texas Health Resources which encompasses the entire system. He is married and has 3 children who ar married and has 3 grandchildren.
Dr. Weinstein received his BS Degree from Washington Jefferson College in 1959 and his MD Degree from the University of Pittsburgh Medical School in 1963. He trained at the University of Pittsburgh in gynecology for which he completed his residency at Pittsburgh's McGee Women's Hospital. He served in the military teaching Walter Reed residents for two years and went into private practice in Dallas, Texas in 1969. He has been the Chairman of Vaginal Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Branch and is the Resident Coordinator fo the Department in its clinical location of Presbyterian Hospital in which he trains residents in the art of vaginal surgery.
Dr. Weinstein is a Diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1969 and was elected to membership in the Vaginal Surgeons Society in 1976 which subsequently became the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons in 1980. He served as a medical correspondent at the ABC affiliate in Dallas from 1981 through 1986. He has developed multiple instruments for vaginal surgery, laparoscopy, electrosurgery, incontinence, and ablation. He was elected President of the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons in the year 2000. He has lectured internationally and nationally and in both Asia and Europe.
His surgical videos are a part of the American College of Ob/Gyn library, and he has written many articles on vaginal reconstructive surgery.
